Other than sleeping his little baby butt off, we had lots of fun during Week 11. Aunt Lisa came over to play with us on Friday. Karen got to shower and Colin got to practice his dance moves...
Another first for Week 11 was that we interviewed babysitters. Even though the idea of leaving him with a stranger is terrifying, the women we met were great and probably more qualified to take care of Colin than we are. Despite our fears, it is time to get some local help other than Aunt Lisa and Uncle Greg so that we can actually have some baby-free hang out time with THEM again! I'm just not sure we're going to find anyone as fantastic as those two though - I mean, look at them! Who wouldn't trust their kid with these two??
For those of you who don't know, those are "Jumpin Jammerz" - adult sized footed pajamas and our wedding present to Lisa and Greg. We gave it to them on Greg's birthday on Saturday, and they took a nap in them that afternoon. :)
This week we also had some "dress up" fun. We celebrated St. Patty's Day with a costume from Grandma McGinnis...
...dressed up just like daddy...
...and tried on some outfits that just started fitting recently (size 6 months!!), including a new favorite "My Grandpa Is My Hero" onesie...
We had another first this week - Gabe left town for three days! From what he can remember, he had a really good time watching the NCAA tourney in Chicago with his buddies. Colin and I had lots of visitors too - Aunt Lisa, Aunt Jamie, other mamas and babies, bootcamp friends, and Troutman friends all stopped over to keep us company. And thanks to fun sleepovers with Lisa and Jamie, we were almost never alone! We finished off our daddy-free time by attending a baby food making class with Jamie on Saturday morning. It was interesting, but at the rate Colin's growing, we'll probably be skipping right to pizza just to keep him satisfied! All in all, I think Colin really liked spending time with the girls, trying on dresses and jewelry, wearing lipstick, playing with barbies...just kidding Gabe. :)
One last milestone worth mentioning was that Colin cooked up his most explosive diaper blow-out yet. The damage was so extensive that we had to throw that boy in the shower with his daddy while Karen tried to salvage as much of his wardrobe (and the surrounding surfaces) as possible...Colin thought it was hilarious.
The little guy is more and more fun every day. He still really likes watching his baby signing video (which Jamie and I agree is a secret form of torture for parents since the songs can linger in your head for days afterwards...). He is also swatting and (I think accidentally) grabbing toys in front of him, spending lots of time looking around and trying to move while on his tummy, and sitting quietly while we read him books. That last one really amazes me since I just didn't really think he would want to look at pages of a book, but he seems to be interested, so that works for me. He is also smiling and giggling more than ever, which is my favorite thing!
One more video from the week - getting Colin up from his nap. He's been doing this more recently - waking up and playing in his crib instead of instantly screaming his head off. Not that he doesn't still like a good scream once in a while too!
Last but not least, Colin goofy faces for the week!
