The second major development of the week was that Colin started sleeping more thanks to (who else?) Jamie. She recommended a book on baby sleep practices, and from the very first night we tried it we had success. We are on our fourth night of him sleeping from about 8pm to 8am, broken up by two or three feedings. He is also sleeping more during the day, which is life-changing for Karen. THANK YOU SUPER MOM JAMIE!!!
Other than that, we've had a fun week. It started off with a busy three-day weekend. We visited parents-to-be, Chatarina and Mike so that Karen could dump off about 100 pounds of maternity clothes. Colin smiled for Chatarina several times - no surprise that she's already a baby pro!
We also took Colin on a bunch of errands, to dinner, and on a couple walks. It's really nice that he's still so portable since he just sleeps no matter how loud or bumpy it gets...we're enjoying it while it lasts! In addition to his nightly feeding, Colin enjoyed some boys only time with his daddy - in the morning while Karen was still sleeping (best Valentine's Day present ever!), in the bath tub, and outside for walks.
Karen and Colin also visited Troutman for the first time this week. We had so much fun visiting everyone that we ended up staying for three hours! Somehow I only remembered to take one picture, but it's such a good one with Colin's Aunt Rebecca!
As luck would have it, Isaac's daycare flooded that day, so we spent the afternoon playing at the Anderson house. Isaac was nice enough to let Colin borrow his big boy chair. Colin isn't quite strong enough to sit up by himself yet, but Isaac gave him some pats of encouragement and told him to stick with it!
Colin took Isaac's advice and has been spending a lot of time just chillin in his new chair and practicing holding his head up...
The fantastic foursome also went for a walk to Starbucks. Jamie let us use her ergo baby carrier, which seemed to fit at the time, but from the look of these pictures might have been a bit too small...unless he's supposed to be sticking waaay out of both sides?? :)
While we were out, we asked a woman who has likely never used a remote control, much less a digital camera, in her life to take a picture of us. After she finally figured out how to point the camera in our direction (instead of at herself), this was the result... :)
The next stranger we found was a little more familiar with digital technology...
Colin still likes to lay on his back on his playmat, but now he appears to be actually looking at and even trying to swat at the toys hanging in front of him. He's also getting better and better at tummy time, sometimes holding his head up and moving it from side to side for 5 whole minutes. He also liked the vibrating chair for the first time this week.
On Thursday, we were so lucky to have Aunt Lisa come over so that Karen could go for a run, do a bunch of laundry, and go through and organize ALL of her non-maternity clothes. She's so great with him - really calm and patient, even when he spits up right smack in the middle of her pretty shirt! Gabe and Karen went out for sushi that night, while Colin stayed back with Lisa and wowed her (and us) by eating a record-breaking 8 ounces before going to bed! Lisa and Greg saved Karen again on Saturday when Gabe had to work all morning. Thanks to the newlyweds, Karen was able to sneak out for a jog and take a shower - it had been too long since she did either one!
And now for some of this week's silly Colin faces...
